Over the holidays we received a gigantic container full of winter themed foam stickers from one of the grands. I immediately knew it would make a great sensory bin for Little Bear.

Since our theme for January is winter, it made sense to throw them in a container with the pieces from a wooden shape puzzle for a fun sensory shape hunt... It's also a great way to work on colors and counting.

While Little Bear shuffles through the "snow," I ask questions like:
  • Can you find the red shapes?
  • What shape did you find?
  • Can you find the star?

You get the picture. Once he finds what I've asked for, I then ask questions like:

  • How many red shapes are there?
  • Where does that shape (name the shape) go?
  • What color is the star?

  • It makes for a fun learning activity that can be used several times throughout the month. If you need any supplies, I've put together a shopping list of some of our favorite winter themed stickers and shape puzzles below.
