I'm a firm believer that learning is more fun when children can do hands on activities. I also love activities when Little Bear gets to play with his food because he tends to be more engaged.
Over the holidays, I found a few packs of seasonal playing cards at Dollar Tree which have been coming in handy for different activities all winter. Today, we pulled the penguins out of one of the decks to play feed the penguin with goldfish crackers during snack time.
How We Play
I placed a handful of goldfish in a bowl and used a plate to place the playing card on for counting. We identified the number then counted the correct amount by transferring the goldfish from the bowl to the penguin's tummy. Once we got the correct number, Little Bear counted as he removed then from the plate to eat.
Since the cards I found are seasonal, I found a great alternative with these FREE counting mats from Modern Preschool.
